In the year 2000, a landslide in Gondo, Switzerland killed 13 people in 10 seconds. The cause of the landslide was due to continuous days of heavy rain.

In 2008, a landslide dam resulted from the Si Chuan earthquake at Jian River forming the Tang Jia Shan Lake.

A massive landslide occured in Bukit Antarabangsa, Kuala Lumper slipping down tonnes of earth crushing 14 bungalows, killing 5 people and injuring 14 others.

Thousands of cubic metres of rocks slid off a mountainside in Hanoi, Vietnam killing at least 18 in 2007.

Ormoc City, Philippines 1991 had torrential rainfall that resulted in mudslides killing 5000 and leaving 46 000 homeless.

In 1908, Messina Italy experienced an earthquake of magnitude 7.5, the number of fatalities was 70 000 to 100 000.

San Fransisco, 1989 had an earthquake of magnitude 6.9 killing 63 people.

17118 people died in the 1999, Izmit, Turkey earthquake of magnitude 7.4 because the cement used to construct the buildings were substandard. Seashells were found to be used as a substitute in the cement.

The 2008, Si Chuan earthquake magnitude 7.9 killed 87587 chinese citizens.

In 2008, Nevada, USA had a 6.0 magnitude earthquake which did not kill anyone.

On 4th September 2010, Christ Church, New Zealand experienced an earthquake of 7.1 magnitude. Zero people were killed but there were 2 casualties.

The Mount Sinabung eruption in Philippines, 2010 was not predicted due to the lack of data for predicting the recurrence interval. The last eruption was 400 years ago.
